Frequently
asked questions
How do I know if my client can switch?
Following the de-regulation of the commercial water market in England and Wales from April 1st 2017, the open water market has provided the perfect opportunity for any eligible business customer to review their current water and wastewater spend. By either agreeing a retail agreement with their existing supplier or switching to an alternative supplier, business customers now, more than ever, are keen to review and improve their current annual spend.
Whilst the non-household water market has been de-regulated since 2008 in Scotland, many business owners in the UK still aren’t aware that they’re able to switch.
What is the de-regulated water market?
Since the 1st April 2017, over 1.2 million eligible business customers have been given the freedom of choice of who supplied their water and wastewater service provisions. Previously, this was determined based on where in the UK the premise was located and which wholesaler supplied the area.
What are the benefits of a de-regulated industry to your clients?
- It gives businesses the freedom to negotiate the best smart procurement water plan for their business
- Businesses have more choice over their water supplier so are able to choose based on reputation, customer service and competitive tariff structures
- More water efficiency advice for businesses so they can understand how to reduce their water spend and mitigate wholesale price movement
How easy is it to switch?
Switching to an alternative supplier is straightforward and with the support of GB Water, your client can be benefiting from a competitive tariff within 28 days.
What if my client has water and wastewater with different suppliers?
Your GB Water experts will consolidate the two service provisions to one global supplier, meaning your clients will receive one bill.
How much will this service cost my client?
GB Water are paid directly by the supplier, meaning your clients will never be invoiced directly by us.
